A beautiful interior isn't just about the finishes — it's about how a space feels to move through, live in, and use every single day. Space planning is the invisible discipline behind every successful interior, and it's where every CadZone project begins.
What Is Space Planning?
Space planning is the process of organising furniture, circulation paths, functional zones, and built elements within a given floor plan. Done well, it ensures that a room doesn't just look good in photographs — it works for the people living or working in it. Done poorly, even the most expensive finishes can't save a space that feels cramped, awkward, or confusing to navigate.
The Site Visit: Where It All Starts
Every CadZone project begins with an in-person site visit. We measure accurately, note existing conditions, identify structural constraints, and — most importantly — we listen. What does the client do in this space? How many people use it? Is there natural light? Where does traffic flow? These questions shape everything that follows.
From Brief to Concept Floor Plan
Armed with measurements and a detailed brief, our team develops concept floor plans that propose multiple spatial arrangements. We typically present two or three options, each with different functional priorities, so the client can see the trade-offs clearly. This is where furniture scale, traffic flow, and zone separation are all resolved before a single thing is ordered or built.
Design Development
Once a concept is approved, we move into design development — where materials, finishes, built-in joinery, and lighting positions are resolved in detail. Every decision references the approved floor plan. This prevents the common mistake of falling in love with a sofa that's three centimetres too wide, or a dining table that blocks the only natural light in the room.
From Plan to Handover
Our project management team coordinates with contractors, suppliers, and artisans to ensure that what was planned is what gets built. We're on site during critical installation phases and conduct a formal handover walkthrough with the client at completion.
Good space planning is the reason some rooms feel effortless to live in. Let's plan yours together.
